[New Bedford, MA] – [August 18, 2025] – Clean Uniforms and More!, a leading provider of commercial laundry services in the Northeast, announced the successful implementation and operation of a state-of-the-art Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) at its central processing facility in New Bedford, MA. This groundbreaking RTO air pollution capture and control system, combined with the Company’s existing membrane capture technology, positions Clean Uniforms and More! (Clean) as the only print and furniture towel cleaning service that effectively removes Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from both wastewater and air, directly addressing the growing demand for stringent environmental compliance and sustainable practices across industries.
Setting a New Benchmark for Sustainable Industrial Laundry Practices
This significant investment in cutting-edge machinery underscores Clean’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sets a new benchmark for sustainable industrial laundry practices, aligning with increasing regulatory pressures and corporate sustainability mandates. The new RTO is the only one of its kind operating at an industrial laundry in the United States; it prevents VOCs from being released into the atmosphere during the cleaning process.

The technology and enhanced process Clean has implemented at their facility to deliver zero environmental impact includes:
- Advanced Membrane Capture System: This system delivers the highest level of wastewater treatment, ensuring 100% compliance with clean water guidelines by effectively removing VOCs from the water.
- Revolutionary Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO): The only one in the country operating in an industrial laundry, the RTO is specifically designed to remove at least 98.5% of VOCs that pass through it from the laundry process.

Regulatory Approval and Industry Leadership
The Air Quality Plan, critical to this project, received approval from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) in 2022. Impressively, in less than two years, the entire system was constructed and optimized, and it successfully passed rigorous compliance and performance testing witnessed by both EPA and MassDEP observers. This makes Clean the only facility in EPA Region 1 (includes the states of CT, ME, MA, NH, RI and VT) approved to launder virtually unlimited amounts of VOC laden print and furniture towels at present capacity.
The complex engineering, permitting, procurement, and construction of the RTO VOC capture and control system were expertly spearheaded by Michael Cahill, P.E. Cahill remarked, “This was a truly groundbreaking project. We worked closely with both state and federal environmental agencies from the outset, and partnered with leading national industrial equipment companies and skilled local fabricators to deliver this 1st-mover air quality solution for the industrial laundry sector, setting a new standard.”
